What Causes The Power Cord Plug To Get Hot
May 08, 2022
In fact, there are many reasons for fever, but there are two common ones. Below are some possible reasons why.
1. The quality of the socket is not good. The clamping force of the copper sheets in the inferior socket may not be enough, resulting in poor contact between the socket and the plug, and the socket and plug will heat up when the electrical appliance is used for a long time. This happens because when buying sockets, they buy a "three-nothing" product at a cheap price. Therefore, when buying electrical products, we should not be greedy for cheap, but should buy regular sockets, because this is closely related to our safety and cannot be neglected.
2. The plug is oxidized or too dirty. The plug will oxidize or become oily over time, especially in kitchens or places with harsh environments. The contact resistance between the plug and the socket increases, and the high load power will cause the plug to heat up. If it is not dealt with in time, a vicious circle will be formed, and it will easily cause a fire after a long time.
Solution: Observe and wipe the plug frequently. Severely oxidized must be sanded before use. Or replace the socket.
3. Rural households and residents of old urban houses, due to the unreasonable layout of sockets, simultaneously connect a variety of high-power electrical appliances to the sockets. Turning on the same multi-socket at the same time on the same multi-socket will inevitably cause excessive current flow and cause the multi-socket and plug to overheat
Solution: Use fixed location household appliances and high-power appliances (such as TVs, refrigerators, microwave ovens, induction cookers, computers, stereos, etc.) to connect to fixed sockets respectively, and the power cords connected to high-power appliances should also be directly connected from the home power distribution box. Outlet; for some frequently-moving appliances, multi-purpose sockets can be used, but use caution. Do not turn on multiple appliances at the same time for safe use.
