Basic Structure Of Power Cable

Sep 30, 2021

The basic structure consists of four parts: core (conductor), insulating layer, shielding layer and protective layer.

1. Wire core

The core is the conductive part of the power cable. It is used to transmit electrical energy and is the most important part of power cables.

2. Insulation layer

The insulation layer is an important part of the power cable structure. It electrically isolates the core wire from the earth and the core wires of different phases to ensure the transmission of electric energy.

3. Shielding layer

15KV and above generally have conductor shielding layer and insulating shielding layer.

4. Protective layer

The role of the protective layer is to protect the power cable from external impurities and moisture. Avoid direct damage to the power cable by external forces.
