Application and Features
Brazil flexible extension cord mainly uses class II European plugs and NEMA 1-15 and NEMA 5-15 standards. The modified (non compliant) version of IEC 60906-1 is adopted as the 1998 national standard (revised in 2002). NBR 14136 specification [32] NBR 14136 has two types of sockets and plugs: one for 10 A, pin diameter of 4 mm, and the other for 20 a, The pin diameter is 4.8 mm, which is used for heavy appliances such as microwave ovens. [33] NBR 14136 was not enforced or encouraged in the country until 2007, when its adoption of manufacturers was optional and became mandatory on January 1, 2010. It helps domestic consumers install most class II plugs in the new NBR 14136 socket.
